Mission Trip to Sinnissippi Baptist Association!!

I want to begin giving you the latest update on our mission trip to Sinnissippii Association in Northwest Illinois.  We will leave Sunday afternoon September 26 at 1:30 in the afternoon....and we plan to return on Friday, October 1.  At this time, we are still finalizing plans....hope to have costs, etc in the next week or so.  At the present time, the cost for everything will be $275.00 or less....we are still looking at a couple of lodging options.

As I have been in discussion with Brother John (DOM of Sinnissippi), we have talked about working in the Pearl City and Lena communities.  We will be doing some survey work....and generally getting to know folks in those communities.  We will be needing a "fairly complete" list of those planning to attend ASAP!  So....if you would be willing/ready to make this kind of trip, please contact us at the associational office!

What a GREAT opportunity for folks of our association to be directly involved with the Acts 1:8 directive to be involved in Samaria missions!!

Welcome to Fellowship Baptist Association!

Fellowship Baptist Association is a network of Southern Baptist Convention and Missouri Baptist Convention churches committed to work together in an effort to follow the Great Commandment and fulfill the Great Commission.  Our churches are primarily located in Benton, Hickory, and St. Clair counties in the great state of Missouri.....and we hope you'll consider making one of them your church home!!

A seminary professor once asked a question of some international students, "What do you understand the term 'Fellowship' to mean?"  There was a moment of silence and one finally said, "Fellows in the same ship?"  Now, isn't that even more true than what we usually think of "Fellowship?"!  I hope as you think of Fellowship Baptist Association, it's in the light of this unique definition....that we are here together.....serving Christ and one another like we are in the same ship depending on one another and working together to bring God glory and honor!!

Jesus was once asked, "What is the greatest Commandment?"  His reply was that we are to love the Lord our God with all that we are.  Folks, that's God's desire for FELLOWSHIP with us!!  He went on to say that the second commandment was similar.....to love our neighbor as much as we love ourself.  Sounds to me like FELLOWSHIP with one another.  Ultimately we are to follow the Great Commission -- to go into the world with the message of Christ.  Now, doesn't that sound like a command to bring others into FELLOWSHIP with our Lord?  No wonder we like the sound of FELLOWSHIP Baptist Association!

I hope if you are considering a move to our area....or even a visit to our area....you'll make one of our churches your choice of a place of worship!

Keep your Nose in the Word, the Son in your Eyes, and May God Bless you Real Good!  Bro.Dave

Ladies Retreat

Due to the WMU Director resigning....and serious health issues in the family of the Temporary Director who was planning the retreat, we feel it best to cancel the Ladies Retreat this year.  We appologize.....but feel it best to do it this way.

Mission Trip to Midwestern Seminary

November 1-5.....

Midwestern Seminary in Kansas City is building a new chapel on campus.  They are endeavoring to do nearly all of the work utilizing volunteer labor.  I have “volunteered” us for those dates......  By that time, the plan is to be working on the finish work – painting, trim, that kind of thing.  We don’t necessarily need “experienced” folks for this job...just folks who are willing to learn and/or simply be a ‘go-fer’ and gather materials, etc for others.  We will simply endeavor to work where they put us!!

The plan is that we will be staying in seminary housing...apartment type facilities.  We will need workers for the project....and some folks who would be willing to prepare meals for our crew.  If you would be available for this project....please contact us at the associational office!!  Final cost is not completed...but this will definitely be a “minimum cost” trip....primarily just for food.  Housing will be available for October 31, so being there on Sunday evening is a possibility.

Baptist Ridge Camp

For information on how your group can use Baptist Ridge Camp, give us a call at the Fellowship Baptist Association office.  We invite you to participate in our weekly volunteer work day each Tuesday. We start with coffee and fellowship around 9 am, then do some "chores" followed by lunch and a few more "chores". Leave when you need to, but be sure to stay as long as you like.

What Is GPS??????

No, it's not (at least in this instance) Global Positioning System.  It is "God's Plan for Sharing."  Over the next several months/years, you will be seeing more and more about GPS.  GPS is a national vision initiative for Southern Baptist to fulfill the Great Commission in North America by the year 2020.  This initiative is being developed by the North American Mission Board, and is being prepared to travel across North America over the next several years.

GPS will have a special evangelism campaign every two years beginning in 2010.  The evangelism campaign for 2010 is called "Across North America."  This campaign will take place through the Easter season of next year.  I encourage you to check out the GPS link at www.namb.net -- there is a lot more information there!  Also, you might check www.findithere.com -- this is a website that is evangelistic and is a part of the GPS initiative.  That website also has some of the TV and radio ads which will be used next year in media markets across America.
